New Product – pre-weighed P-30 motors

Pre-weighed P-30 motor. The rules for P-30 state the motor maximum weight is 10 grams. These motors weigh between 10.2 and 10.6 grams, so you have about 3 inches extra. These are made from 1/8″ FAI Super Sport rubber. For the non-P-30 flyers, this is about 16 feet of rubber.

I can make up motors in 1/16″, 3/32″, and 3/16″, if you desire. Contact me via email. The price will be the same: $2 for 10+ grams.

Volare Calculators

For about 15 years, I have had some simple software calculators on line.  I have now moved them to this site.  On the right you will see three new links under the heading “Access Volare Calculators”.  There are three as follows:

Carve Calc – say you want to carve a propeller and you know the final diameter and pith that you want, but don’t know what the dimensions would be needed to produce those values.  Use this tool, enter the Diameter, Pitch, and Blade Width and it will calculate the block size required.  There is also a link to a layout and carving instruction image.

Cone Calc – You need to make a hubcap for that Jumbo Scale WWI fighter you are making.  You know the diameter inside the tire is 2.25″, but paper is flat.  How big of a disc of paper do you need and how much overlap is necessary to create just the right hub cap.  Well, enter the final diameter and cone height and this will calculate all that for you.

Strut Calc – That model you are building has a V-strut supporting the wing.  The dimension for the rear strut is not given, simply measure the X, Y and Z axis dimensions on the plan and enter into the calculator and it will tell you how long that strut is.

Use them all you like – they are free!

New Sales Site is OPERATIONAL!

I have the new sales site functional.  I have tested the shopping cart and checkout.  Payments can be made either with PayPal or with a credit card (no PayPal account necessary).  Or you can select the Cash/Check option and mail in your payment.

All existing users of the old site will need to reset their passwords one time.  I imported all user accounts, but passwords did not transfer.  I have created a document that illustrates how to reset your password –  there is a prominent link to the document on the new site.  If you use your existing account, please remember to verify all of your account settings and contact information.

We will run parallel operations for a period of time, just to be sure all is working.  Please contact me if you have any suggestions or issues.

Access the new site by the BUY STUFF link above or the Volare Products – Shorty’s Basement link on the right side.

New Sales Site

Work is nearly completed on the NEW Basement – our sales site.  Timing couldn’t be better (other than being completed) – I have been having email issues with the current Shorty’s Basement site and my Volare Products plan site is down – likely permanently.

Very soon, when you click the BUY STUFF link above or the Shorty’s link to the right, you will be taken to the new shopping cart area – here is a preliminary screen shot:

Crocket Hooks

I finally got around to getting a supply of Crocket Hooks.  This will help transfer your motor from the winder to the prop shaft, and help keep the rubber from climbing the shaft.  I have what I call three sizes:  small, medium, and large.

A New Color of Esaki Tissue

I now have a supply of a new color of tissue from Esaki.  They call it “Sky” blue; to me, it looks more like turquoise.  Here is a picture of it next to the traditional Esaki blue.  Also, you might recognize it from the Old Timer I posted a couple weeks ago (below).  Of course, you can find it in the Basement!
