Description
Built just for fun as a minimalist experiment, this turned out much better than I expected. The original Sky Box was taken to the 2017 AMA Indoor Nationals in Rantoul, IL. I was very pleased to watch it max at the ceiling and it finished second in the event.
This version, designed for kit production, was changed, possibly enhanced, in a few ways. I successfully flew it in December 2022 in Pontiac, MI where i recorded another max on a test flight.
My version weighs 8 grams and flies with a 6″ formed prop on a single loop of 3/32″ rubber. There is not much to the model, so it is a quick build. While it is designed for Indoor flying, it would probably work outdoors, too, with a bit of strengthening in the wings and tail.
This SHORT KIT contains a plan and two sheets of laser cut parts and a pair of 3D-printed wheels.
My prototype used a 7″ prop with a loop of 3/32″ rubber.
