Description
I have never really liked the Fike, but this version of the “E” is much better looking than the original. I designed this based on Carl Godel’s 3-view and several photos that I have from the late Jim Miller. The barn-door wing (49.9 square inches) makes it a large Peanut – and that is probably why the Fike has been popular over the years. There is a lot of structure in my wing, but all of the ribs, etc., are cut from 1/32″ sheet – it builds light and strong. I have also used the full scale airfoil – NACA 4409.
My prototype came out to just a shade over 10 grams and I have campaigned it in Peanut, Embryo (yes, it meets Embryo requirements!) and most recently, I converted it to electric for Simplified Power Scale.
The short kit contains, a new plan (plus a 3-view) and four sheets of light weight balsa: 2x 1/16″ sheet and 2x 1/32″ sheet – and a 3D printed tailwheel.
