Gene Smith’s 21.5″ high wing monoplane. Gene’s model won FAC Modern Civilian at the 2019 AMA Outdoor Nats. Gene sent me pencil sketches and it took me quite a bit of time to convert the sketches to a CAD plan. But the time was well-spent as this is an excellent build and an even better flyer!
This is a Keel & Half-Shell design and all of the parts are minimal in wood and fully notched. Take your time and carefully assemble the fuselage, and you will be rewarded with a straight AND LIGHT model.
Parts and notations included on the plan to convert this Cardinal 177RG to a Centurion 210. The full-scale planes were not twins, but when reduced to this scale, the differences become minor.
Required wood: 1/16″ square balsa for all stringers, spars, and stick wood, 3/32″ square for wing leading edge.
- Short Kit, Plan, and 3 sheets of laser-cut balsa – $15
- Option 1 plus a vacu-formed front canopy – $20
- Option 1 plus a Gizmo Geezer Nose Button – $20
- Option 1 plus both Canopy and GG Nose Button – $25
Note Gizmo Geezer options include nose parts laser-cut for GG nose button.
