Description
I built two PBY NoCals in the early 1990s and they won 3 Kanones for me. In the summer of 2016, I decided rework the plan for laser-cut parts and build a third. This flew very well in November of 2016.
While this model is a bit complicated to build, I have tried to make it easier by engineering the pieces to fit together and add strength to the completed airframe. It is built from 1/32″ sheet with reinforcement pieces of 1/32″ square and 1/8″ square.
While it can be a challenge to wind the motors (without a helping hand), flying is straightforward, especially if you use the indoor-style “aluminum-U” nose bearings that allow for easy thrust adjustments.
